Postnatal support
"Mothering the mother fortifies the new mother's resources for coping with the enormous demands of newborn parenting. Whether it's done by a relative or a doula, support for the immense transformation taking place is essential" — Diane Speier

As a postnatal doula, I offer emotional, physical, practical, and informational support to families across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife, Glasgow, South Lanarkshire, and the Scottish Borders. Whether you're navigating breastfeeding, adjusting to life with a newborn, or simply needing a listening ear, I'm here to help. My services are tailored to your unique needs and preferences, ensuring you receive the care and support you deserve during this transformative time. I work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, providing holistic, mother-centered care that empowers you on your postpartum journey.

Doulas do not take a clinical role, they work alongside other healthcare professionals, providing holistic mother- centred support.

Postpartum planning
I offer a 2 hours antenatal session for postpartum planning to make sure you have all the care and support that you need, before the baby arrives, and help you create a positive postpartum experience.
Creating a postpartum plan can help ease your transition into parenthood.
A postpartum plan is a set of preferences, to be used as a guide, for the early weeks and months after your little one arrives, which can include planning about your physical recovery, self- care, mental health, parental leave, feeding, sleep, household chores, etc.
Considering your options early can help you feel more prepared in the first days and weeks postpartum, it can help you clarify your vision for what kind of support you’ll want and help you communicate that to your family, friends and support network, so everyone can be on the same page.

Postnatal doula support
I offer support to new mothers and families, in their own home or in the hospital, during the daytime, evening and occasionally night time.
I am there to reassure you and encourage you to listen to your mothering instinct, to support you in bonding with your baby and facilitate the process of gaining a deeper understanding of physiological and biologically normal infant feeding behaviour. In order to empower you in your choices, I will provide evidence- based information and signpost you to different services. I can offer companionship and a non judgemental listening ear, I create a safe space to share and process your birth experience and your feelings around motherhood, I provide support with feeding your baby whether you are breastfeeding, formula feeding or combination feeding, I can cook nourishing home- made foods and drinks for an optimal recovery, provide opportunities to rest or get a shower or relaxing bath, help with light housework and support with looking after older children and pets...
During the sessions, I offer bodywork in the form of Closing of the Bones and postpartum massage.
I can start working with you antenatally or after the birth of your baby/ies.
Please get in touch with me to hear about how a postnatal doula session might look like, discuss your needs and hear what I can offer to best support you in your journey to motherhood.

Closing the bones and postpartum massage
Closing the Bones to aid in the new parents’ healing process with the purpose of closing cycles, energetic fields and returning heat back to the body have been practiced all over the world for centuries. In several Latin American, African and Asian countries, similar ceremonies are still widely practised, but they seem to have been lost in the Western world.
The Closing of the Bones practice acknowledges the immense changes a woman has undergone in pregnancy and childbirth and assists in bringing her spirit back into her own body. Physically, it guides her bones back into place, helps her pelvic organs shift and her uterus to shrink back down, and stimulates blood flow. It helps a parent find closure to their birth story and to connect to their new body.
I offer a postnatal massage and closing of the bones with Mexican rebozos. If you would like to know more about this offering, please don't hesitate to get in touch and/or check my social media to learn more.
