Hello! Behind the name Muladhara, there's me! My name is Stefania.
Originally from Italy, I moved to the UK in 2011. After living in the beautiful city of Edinburgh for 9 years with my husband Davide, our two children, Dante and Gaia, and our kittens, Jura and Skye, I recently moved to a more rural setting between the Scottish Borders and South Lanarkshire and our life and lifestyle has changed dramatically in just one year!
I have been a nurse since 2009 and have worked in intensive care for a decade, until I left nursing completely in 2024.

In 2017 I became a mother. Dante's traumatic birth, the breastfeeding struggles and the lack of postnatal support and family/support network around me, are all experiences that gave me insight of the vulnerability parents experience through their journey from pregnancy into parenthood.

In 2019, I got pregnant again and was convinced that if only I had a positive birth experience this time, then everything would be alright in the postpartum. I had a beautiful healing home birth supported by an amazing doula, but despite a positive birth, the postpartum was a real struggle, with new breastfeeding challenges and the complex dynamics of becoming a family of four, looking after a baby AND a toddler, with little or no support.

Over the years since becoming a mother for the first time and looking after my small family, I realised that the identity shift I had gone through was going to bring some changes to my career. I felt a strong call to support new mothers.
My personal experience, passion for breastfeeding and the wish to give back the support I received led me to becoming a volunteer breastfeeding counsellor with one of the national organisations in January 2022.
About me
My interest for yoga and meditation, and the benefits I experienced first hand during my second pregnancy and postnatal period, and generally since becoming a parent, led me to take a Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training with Sally Parkes in November 2022.
During this training I came across other interesting people and learned about wonderful ways to support mothers and families in the postnatal period.
I took further trainings with Sophie Messeger on rebozo techniques to support pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period and the Closing The Bones ceremony.
My growing passion and interest in supporting families and their babies, particularly in the postnatal period, led me to train to become a postnatal doula with Younique Postnatal (completed in March 2023).
I now offer support to mothers and birthing parents as a postnatal doula, I offer pre and postnatal yoga and infant feeding support, as well as Closing the Bones ceremonies.

I strongly believe that each person, baby, dyad and family are unique and I am here to help them identify their needs, meet their goals and support them in their transition to parenthood, however that may look.

I am a reliable, caring, calm and supportive person. I have a nurturing attitude and a non-judgmental open mind.
I love cooking and enjoy trying new recipes. I strongly believe the foods we eat are the foundations of our health, even more so in pregnancy and postpartum!
Things that make me feel good are spending time with my family, practicing yoga and immerse myself in nature. I love the woods, wild remote beaches and a hike in the mountains.
I love travelling and learning about and from different cultures, their knowledge and their wisdom. I feel profound honour and respect towards them. When offering support through Yoga or closing ceremonies that are inspired by the Mexican tradition, I don't intend to adopt cultural elements in a disrespectful or stereotypical way. I am committed to lifelong learning and I come from a place of love and peace, in the belief that we could all benefit from the wisdom and knowledge that each of us can bring in support of others.
"Becoming a mother leaves no woman as it found her. It unravels and re-weaves her; cracks her open; takes her to her edges. It’s both beautiful and brutal; often at the same time.'
